The signing and opening ceremony of Testing Laboratory for Nanostructures, NCNST-Micromeritics Co-Laboratory was successfully held in Beijing. Dr. Fan Weimin, Director of Nanotech Development Dept. at the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (herein after referred to as NCNST) and Dr. Ren Xu, General Manager of Micromeritics Instrument (Shanghai) Ltd., jointly unveiled the name plate.
 
Dr. Fan Weimin, Director of Nanotech Development Dept. at NCNST, delivered opening remarks: we have purchased ASAP 2020, ASAP 2460, 3Flex, Autochem II 2920 and other series of instruments from Micromeritics, and we are looking forward to collaborating with Micromeritics at broader scales. Micromeritics is the leading supplier of nano-characterization analytical laboratory instrumentation and services. This win-win collaboration will further improve the R&D capacity of NCNST. Dr. Ren Xu, General Manager of Micromeritics Instrument (Shanghai) Ltd., then reviewed the progress of Micromeritics in China market, introducing the latest technology and products of Micromeritics, and firmly believed that the co-laboratory would be beneficial to Chinese researchers.

Introduction to NCNST
The National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) of China is co-founded by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Ministry of Education . It is a subsidiary non-profit organization of CAS which enjoys full financial allocations with a status of independent non-profit legal entity. It will have 155 formal employees. The center was officially founded on December 31, 2003, with CAS, Peking University and Tsinghua University as its initiators and co-founders.

The NCNST adopts a system that its director takes full responsibilities under leadership of a governing board. Its first director is Bai Chunli, an academic of CAS. The center established an academic committee which aids the governing board to determine important research areas and moving directions of NCNST.

In NCNST, basic and applied researches in nanoscience have been positioned as the main research directions. Its objective is to build a public technological platform and research base for nanoscience, which is featured with state- of- the- art equipments and is open to both domestic and international users.

The NCNST mainly consists of following branches, laboratory for nano-device, laboratory for nano-materials, laboratory for biological effects of nanomaterials and nano-safety, laboratory for nano-characterization, laboratory for nano-standardization, laboratory for nano-manufacture and applications, testing laboratory for nanostructures, nanofabrication laboratory, coordination laboratories, a website and some databases for nanoscience.
